Hounslow's Sherborne Taxi 07976 439135

Privacy notice

What happens to what you tell us. It is short because the site asks for very little, and sets no cookies at all.

Who is responsible

Hounslow's Sherborne Taxi, of Sherborne, Dorset, decides what happens to the details you give us here. That makes us the data controller for them. We are a sole trader business rather than a limited company, run by Nick Hounslow, and our postal address is 30 Allingham Road, Yeovil, Somerset BA21 4SA.

You can reach us on 07976 439135, by email at contact@sherborne.taxi, or through the enquiry form. Anything about your own details is best put in writing, so that we have it straight.

Dalaric Ltd builds and hosts the site and looks after the enquiry form for us. They act on our instructions and use nothing you send for anything of their own.

What we collect

Only what you type into the enquiry form:

If you ring or send a WhatsApp message instead, we hold what you tell us then, in the way any small business holds a customer's details.

The site itself asks for nothing. There is no account to open, no newsletter, and nothing that follows you around.

Why we have it, and what allows us to

We use it to work out a price, to answer you, and to carry out the journey if you book one. In the words the law uses, that is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and then performing that contract. Where you are asking on somebody else's behalf, we rely instead on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries about our service.

We do not use it for marketing, we do not sell it, and we do not pass it to anybody for their own purposes.

Who else handles it

Nobody else, unless the law obliges us, which in practice means a proper request from the police or a court.

How long we keep it

An enquiry that does not become a journey: twelve months, and then we delete it.

A journey you do take: six years, because our tax records have to reach back that far.

Cookies, counting visits, and why there is no banner

This site sets no cookies. It stores nothing else on your device either, and there is no advertising and nothing from a social network.

We do count visits, using Cloudflare Web Analytics. A small script from Cloudflare notes which page was opened, the page you came from, your browser and type of device, your country, and how quickly the page loaded. It is not used to identify you, it keeps nothing on your device, and it does not follow you to other sites. We look only at the totals, to see which pages people find useful, which is our legitimate interest in running the site.

If you would rather not be counted, a content blocker or your browser's tracking protection will stop the script, and every page works exactly the same without it.

That is why you were not asked to agree to anything when you arrived. Nothing is stored on your device, so there was nothing to ask about.

Cloudflare, which serves the pages, does record each request, including the internet address it came from, so that attacks on the site can be blocked. Those records are kept briefly and we do not read them.

Your rights

Over the details we hold about you, you may ask us to:

Ask us and we will do it, normally within a month, and at no charge. If you are not happy with how we have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first, so that we can put it right.

We are registered with the Information Commissioner as a fee payer. Our registration number is ZC134052.
